That's a role we are used to. I think it's because of the fact we are newbies and no one really knows anything about us, so it's normal to place a "safe bet" on a team with more European experience. However, the Bulgarian championship is still stronger than the Kazakh one despite the money that is pouring over there. And Dunav is a team with really strong balance against everyone in Top 6, including Ludogorets. And that wasn't just one-off sparkle, but something that persisted all season long. Personally I think Dunav has everything to be a very dangerous team in Europe. First and foremost all the players are very well integrated into the squad. A bunch of our main guys are here for 3-4 years, they were with us even in Third division. The team is very strong physically and has an extremely good level of tactical discipline. Everyone is quite aware of the fact we don't have any star players and the team is what matters the most. As a style, Dunav follows the one of Athletico Madrid - a very aggressive, pressuring football on a high speed, without too many passes. Our team is the one that has the most goal situations and shots towards the goal in the league as we are capable of reaching the opposite side within 5-7 seconds and to create a goal situation out of that. So, our team should not be underestimated. Yes, we don't have any big names, all of the players are selected from the lower divisions but when it comes to a team play, that's a whole different story.

I also think that from some games on internet that i watched.Red Star have quality but we every year change best players,coaches,its very hard to integrate in team.What is high level of payment in Dunav Ruse team?

Hahah, you will laugh at it. The salaries are up to 1500 EUR + there are bonuses for good results totaling at like 1 000 EUR for a win and 500 EUR for a draw. The total budget for the last year was 1 mln. EUR, this year will be 1,5 mln. EUR.

In Bulgaria there are teams with way bigger budgets than us, we are somewhere at the bottom of the ranking when it comes to that aspect. But our club is slowly rebuilding after 25 years of chaos and we hope year by year to get better and better. We don't have owner, it's a society-type of organization and you know, it's hard but that way we feel a deeper connection to the club and definitely the position of the fans is respected and matters. Dunav does not have any similarities with Ludogorets despite the sole fact we are from the same region. Despite the fact the pay roll is relatively small, all the liabilities are covered by the due date and we don't have any financial problems. After two bankruptcies, we are kind of very focused on a sustainable and long-term development of our club as opposed to immediate results. So this year's participation in Europe is just a great bonus for us.

We are confirmed as a participant, although CSKA-Sofia (please refer to them with the dash, because they don't have anything to do with the old CSKA) appeals against it in CAS.

CSKA-Sofia is a merger between Litex Lovech and Chavdar Etropole and according to the rules is considered as a new club. The old one is in a process of liquidation and will be dissolved completely soon. CSKA-Sofia was born in an attempt to escape from paying the debts of the old club and that's why they have these problems now.

CSKA-Sofia were illegally introduced directly to First league this season and now they try to enter Europa League also illegally with a falsified license and a great help by BFU, but were rejected. That's the whole drama, explained in basic terms. The typical Balkan story...


Dunav of course appealed against that license and we won in UEFA.

How could something in a name like "partizan" be legal, suppose meaning is close to that in Bulgarian.

We'd rather stay away from politics and history as they tend to be sensitive topics on the Balkans But anyway, Bulgaria and Serbia walked different paths in the past. Bulgaria was on the Axis side and "partizans" were fighting against the legitimate government, while Jugoslavia at that time was occupied and their "partizans" fought for freedom. Besides that, Jugoslavia did not have the "luck" to get occupied by the Red Army with a puppet servile regime installed, so that's another difference. That explains it why "partizan" has different meaning here and there.

We focused on younger prospective players with the view of long-term development, rather than experienced players who tend to leave after 6 months or so.
The core of our team have played together for the past 3 season in the 3rd, 2nd and 1st leagues respectively and know each other very well, so drastic changes weren't needed over the summer.

I was going to write about the transfers, but rusensko_vareno posted it just before me. So I'll answer the rest of your questions.

We used two goalkeepers. The first one is Martin Lukov, but he injured himself and he was substituted by Stanislav Antonov. Antonov is regarded as first choice at the moment, while Lukov needs some additional time to recover. Both goalkeepers provided some great saves while playing.As for the striker - maybe you are talking about Miroslav Budinov, the bald one.

We added 6 players to our squad - all of them young, but pretty good so that we can build up for the future. Last season our main problem was that we didn't have the sufficient number of players to back-up the first team regulars. Now it seems we will not have this problem and the team seems much more balanced and equipped with good alternatives on the bench.
